Round & Square
Today we notice a round shape and a square shape, then look, trace, and match their outlines. Looking or pointing is enough; tracing does not need to be accurate.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 3 months old. Keep each guided activity to 3–8 minutes. Looking, pointing, moving a finger above a shape, matching, or saying one word all count as meaningful responses. Do not test reading, require formal definitions, or judge how well she draws a circle.

How to use it
Use only this A4 picture, printed or displayed full-screen. Notice ROUND 圆圆的, SQUARE 方方的, and SHAPE 形状, then follow LOOK 看一看, TRACE 沿边看, and MATCH 配一配. Finish by counting only the bottom row: one red circle, two orange squares, and three blue balls.

Materials
- Only the A4 teaching picture above, printed or displayed full-screen.
- A calm place to point at the picture.
No shape block, ball, box, ruler, or other teaching object is needed.
1. Chinese Picture Talk
Time: 5–8 minutes.
- “蓝色圆看起来圆圆的。”
- “橙色正方形看起来方方的。”
- “圆和正方形都是形状。”
- “配一配时，圆找圆，正方形找正方形。”
Choose only one or two prompts:
- “哪一个圆圆的？”
- “哪一个方方的？”
- “你想看、沿边看，还是配一配？”
Real objects may not be perfectly regular; today uses only the poster's clear shapes.
2. English Time
Time: 3–5 minutes.

Say one short chunk at a time. Looking, pointing, or tracing a small part is enough.
3. Early Math: One Circle, Two Squares, Three Balls
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Use only the bottom row:
- Touch the one red circle once:
one circle. - Touch the two orange squares one at a time:
one, two. - Touch the three blue balls one at a time:
one, two, three.
Count each complete icon once. Do not count square corners, highlights on a ball, or printed numerals.
4. Picture Action: Trace the Edge
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Keep the finger above the poster:
- Move slowly around part or all of the circle outline.
- Move along one square side and pause at a turn.
- Move from the solid circle to its dashed circle, or from the square to its dashed square.
- Any approximate path completes the action.
Shape-Observation Safety
Trace only on the poster or in the air. Do not use small loose shapes, a ruler, or scissors. In everyday life, do not touch sharp furniture, door, or window corners, chase or throw a ball, or climb to find a shape.
5. Everyday Observation: Describe One Large Outline
At a safe place already on the route, the adult describes once:
- “这个大图案看起来圆圆的。”
- “墙上的图案看起来方方的。”
I see a shape.
Do not move furniture or approach glass, doors, or sharp corners to confirm an answer.
Bedtime Recall
- “今天最喜欢圆圆的，还是方方的？”
- “底部有几个正方形？”
