One, Two, Three
Today we connect one, two, and three with clear picture groups, one finger touch for each whole object, and three gentle actions.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 3 months old. Keep each guided activity to 3–8 minutes. Looking, pointing, touching one picture, making an action, or saying one word all count as meaningful responses. Model slowly and stop while she is comfortable. Do not test numeral recognition, recitation, or reading.

How to use it
Use only this A4 picture, printed or displayed full-screen. First notice the one apple, two cups, and three blocks. Then follow look, touch, and count. Finish by counting only the bottom row: one bear, two books, and three balls. Reading the labels is not required.
Goals
- Chinese: understand 一个, 两个, 三个 and 看一看, 点一点, 数一数.
- English: meet
one,two,three,look,touch, andcount. - Early math: connect one number word with one complete pictured object for groups of 1–3.
- Movement: copy three small, comfortable counting gestures.
- Life skills: notice a small quantity during an ordinary routine without turning it into a test.
Materials
- Only the A4 teaching picture above, printed or displayed full-screen.
- A clear place to sit or stand for small gestures.
No counters, balls, blocks, flashcards, or other teaching objects are needed.
1. Chinese Picture Talk
Time: 5–8 minutes.
Describe one top card at a time:
- “这里有一个苹果。”
- “这里有两个杯子。”
- “这里有三个积木。”
- “先看一看，再点一点，最后数一数。”
Choose only one or two prompts:
- “一个苹果在哪里？”
- “你想点杯子，还是积木？”
- “哪一格有三个？”
If Amara looks or points, expand it: “对，你找到了两个杯子。” A number word or complete sentence is not required.
2. English Time
Time: 3–5 minutes.

Say one short chunk, then wait. A look, point, action, sound, or partial word is enough; translation and full repetition are not required.
3. Early Math: One Bear, Two Books, Three Balls
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Use only the bottom row:
- Under 1, touch the one bear once:
one bear. - Under 2, touch the two books one at a time:
one, two. - Under 3, touch the three balls one at a time:
one, two, three.
Use one number word for one whole picture. Do not count bear ears, book-cover pictures, or coloured sections on a ball, and do not ask Amara to identify the printed numerals.
4. Movement: Three Small Actions
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Move away from the screen and choose one or two:
- Raise one relaxed hand on
one. - Open two hands on
two. - Give three slow, gentle taps on the thighs on
three. - Become still together on
stop.
Approximate movements count. Finger-number shapes and exact repetition are not expected.
Counting and Movement Safety
Keep the body in one clear place and use only small movements. The balls and blocks are pictures, not invitations to throw, roll, stack, or fetch objects. Do not provide coins, beads, buttons, or other small counters. An adult handles the screen or printed page.
5. Everyday Connection
Use one quantity that appears naturally:
- “一只鞋在这里。”
- “这里有两本书。”
- “桌上有三个大水果。”
Describe what is already present. Do not gather extra objects, ask repeated “how many” questions, or correct an approximate response.
Bedtime Recall
- “今天看到了一个什么？”
- “小熊、书和球，你最喜欢哪个？”
