A Three-Step Story
Today we follow a possible three-picture story—wake, wash, eat—and hear first, next, and finish. It is a story structure, not a required household order or obedience test.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 5 months old. Keep each guided activity to 3–8 minutes. Looking, pointing, choosing one card, moving a finger, saying one word, pausing, changing the order, or refusing all count. Do not test sequence memory or require completion.

How to use it
Use only this A4 picture. Notice WAKE 起床, WASH 洗脸, and EAT 吃饭, then model FIRST 先, NEXT 接着, and FINISH 结束. Finish by counting one bed, two towels, and three bowls.

Materials
- Only the A4 teaching picture above.
- A calm, dry, uncluttered place to look.
No bed, towel, bowl, food, clothing, or sequence cards are needed.
1. Chinese Picture Talk
Time: 5–8 minutes.
- “小朋友醒来，稳稳坐好。”
- “接着轻轻擦脸。”
- “后来和大人一起吃饭。”
- “故事结束了。”
Say that another family or another day may use a different order.
2. English Time
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Wake.Wash.Eat.First, next, finish.
Amara may point to only one card or rearrange the spoken order. Do not ask her to recite all three.
3. Early Math: One Bed, Two Towels, Three Bowls
Time: 3–5 minutes.
- Touch the one bed once.
- Touch the two folded towels one at a time.
- Touch the three empty bowls one at a time.
Count each complete icon, not bed legs, towel folds, bowl rims, or numerals.
4. Picture Sequence: One Step Is Enough
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Move a finger from one preferred card to another. Say first, next, and finish as narration, not commands. Amara may end after one card.
Routine Safety
Do not jump on or from a bed. A caregiver controls water temperature and mealtime food size, temperature, and supervision. Do not cover the face with a towel, rush eating, or use the story as a compliance chart. “Finish” must be respected.
5. Everyday Connection
During a real routine, invite one manageable action once. The real household order may differ, and adult care continues whether or not Amara participates.
