If We Get Separated
If We Get Separated
Today we introduce one emergency fallback for a public place: stop in a safe visible spot, call the caregiver, stay visible, and ask an identifiable worker at a fixed staffed place for help.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 5 months old. Keep each guided activity to 3–8 minutes. Looking, pointing, calling, moving toward a pictured staffed counter, saying one word, pausing, or refusing all count. This is calm picture talk, not a separation drill or memory test.

How to use it
Use only this A4 picture. Notice STOP 停下来, CALL 呼叫, and STAY 留在原地, then discuss SAFE HELPER 安全求助人, NO WANDERING 不乱走, and REUNITE 再相聚. Finish with one adult, two hands, and three hearts.
Goals
- Chinese: understand 停下来, 呼叫, 留在安全处, 安全求助人, 不乱走, and 再相聚.
- English: meet
stop, call, stay, safe helper,no wandering, andreunite. - Early math: count one adult, two hands, and three hearts.
- Public safety: remain visible and avoid searching alone or following a stranger.
- Life skills: know that a fixed staffed counter can help contact the caregiver.
Materials
- Only the A4 teaching picture above.
- A trusted caregiver beside Amara throughout.
Do not practise by hiding, walking away, or staging a real separation.
1. Chinese Picture Talk
Time: 5–8 minutes.
Do not display Amara's name, phone number, or address on clothing or the poster.
2. English Time
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Stop in a safe place.Call your caregiver.Stay visible.Ask a safe helper.Do not wander.
Accept a point or one word. Do not quiz all steps.
3. Early Math: One Adult, Two Hands, Three Hearts
Time: 3–5 minutes.
- Touch the one familiar adult once.
- Touch the two hands one at a time.
- Touch the three hearts one at a time.
The numbers are a calm picture activity, not part of the emergency response.
4. Public-Place Boundary: Safe and Visible
Time: 3–5 minutes.
A “safe helper” is an identifiable employee who stays at a fixed staffed counter, information desk, checkout, security post, or similar venue location. The helper contacts staff or the caregiver; Amara should not leave the visible staffed place with an unknown person.
Separation Safety
“Stay” never means remaining mechanically in immediate danger. If the current spot is a roadway, car park lane, railway platform edge, escalator, moving doorway, smoke, fire, water edge, or another obvious hazard, move only to the nearest visible safe spot or fixed staffed place and call. Do not wander, hide, search alone, or follow a stranger elsewhere.
5. Caregiver Preparation
Before outings, the caregiver—not the toddler—maintains supervision, a current photo, contact plans, and awareness of staffed help points. Do not rely on Amara to memorise a phone number or safety script.
Bedtime Recall
- “看不到大人时,先停在哪里?”
Stop, call, and stay visible.- “安全求助人在哪里工作?”
