Who Is in the Story
Today a familiar adult tells a tiny picture story about a child, a dog, and a bird. Amara may look, point, choose, change her choice, or decline; remembering every character is not the goal.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 5 months old. Keep each guided activity to 3–8 minutes. A look, point, choice, one word, approximation, pause, or refusal counts. Do not test character memory, ask for a retelling, or correct an imaginative answer.

How to use it
Use only this A4 picture. Name CHILD 小朋友, DOG 小狗, and BIRD 小鸟, then model looking, pointing, and choosing. Finish by counting only the bottom row: one child, two dogs, and three birds.
Goals
- Chinese: understand 小朋友, 小狗, 小鸟, 看一看, 指一指, and 选一选.
- English: meet

Materials
- Only the A4 teaching picture above.
- A comfortable shared-looking position.
No storybook, puppets, toys, character cards, or other props are needed.
1. Chinese Picture Talk
Time: 5–8 minutes.
Adult story:
- “小朋友出来了。”
- “小狗坐在旁边。”
- “小鸟也来了。”
- “他们看一看，然后故事结束了。”
Keep the adult's story short. Amara does not need to supply missing characters.
2. English Time
Time: 3–5 minutes.
A child.A dog.A bird.Look, point, or choose.
If Amara chooses the dog while the adult mentions the bird, acknowledge her choice rather than saying it is wrong.
3. Early Math: One Child, Two Dogs, Three Birds
Time: 3–5 minutes.
- Touch the one child once.
- Touch the two dogs one at a time.
- Touch the three birds one at a time.
Count whole characters, not limbs, tails, wings, or printed numerals.
4. Story Action: Choose One Character
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Offer: “小朋友、小狗、小鸟，你想看谁？” Accept a point, gaze, one word, changed choice, or refusal. The adult then tells one sentence about that picture.
Story and Animal Safety
This is a picture-only story. Do not seek, approach, touch, feed, or chase a real dog or bird for practice. Do not turn the character choice into a memory or compliance test.
5. Everyday Connection
When naturally sharing a real book, the adult may name one character once. Do not cover pictures and ask Amara to recall who was there.
