Clean Hands
Today we use water, soap, and a towel to follow four simple picture cues: wet, soap, rinse, and dry. The poster supports language and order; an adult still demonstrates and helps with complete handwashing in the real situation.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 4 months old. Keep each guided activity to 3–8 minutes. Looking, pointing, rubbing her hands, copying one step, or saying one word all count as meaningful responses. The four pictures are prompts, not a test and not a complete handwashing technique.

How to use it
Print in colour on portrait A4 paper with “Fit to page” selected, or show it full-screen. First find water, soap, and the towel. Then point through the four middle cards from left to right: wet, soap, rinse, dry. Count only the bubbles in the bottom numbered row. Amara does not need to read the labels or repeat the complete sequence.
Goals
- Chinese: understand 水, 肥皂, 毛巾 and 打湿, 抹肥皂, 冲洗, 擦干 through pictures and a familiar routine.
- English: meet
water,soap,towel,wet,rinse, anddry, and hear natural handwashing chunks. - Early math: touch exactly one, two, and three bubbles in the bottom row, one at a time.
- Movement: copy gentle wetting, rubbing, rinsing, and drying hand actions.
- Life skills: participate in one real handwashing step with adult supervision and help.
Materials
- Only the A4 teaching picture above, printed or displayed full-screen.
- A normal handwashing opportunity later in the day; no special teaching objects are needed.
1. Morning Chinese Picture Talk
Time: 5–8 minutes.
Let Amara look freely, then describe one picture at a time:
- “这是水，水流下来。”
- “这是肥皂，洗手时会用到。”
- “这是毛巾，最后把小手擦干。”
- “先打湿，再抹肥皂，然后冲洗，最后擦干。”
Choose only one or two prompts:
- “水在哪里？”
- “肥皂在哪里？”
- “哪一张图在冲洗？”
- “最后用什么把手擦干？”
If she only points, add the word for her: “你找到毛巾了。” If she starts rubbing her hands, respond with “你在模仿抹肥皂。”
Today's Original Mini Story
Amara's hands have finished playing. Water makes them wet. Soap joins in, and the hands rub together. Clean water rinses the soap away. A soft towel dries both hands. Amara looks at them and says, “Clean hands!”
Point to the matching middle card as each action happens. There is no need for Amara to remember or retell the order.
2. English Time
Time: 3–5 minutes, focused on listening, pointing, and hand actions.

The poster uses SOAP as a short action label. In everyday speech, Let's use soap is the more natural toddler-friendly phrase. Do not require translation or a complete sentence.
3. Early Math: Bubbles One, Two, Three
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Use only the three numbered cards at the bottom:
- Under 1, touch the one bubble once and say
one. - Under 2, touch the two bubbles one at a time and say
one, two. - Under 3, touch the three bubbles one at a time and say
one, two, three.
Offer one simple choice:
- “你想先点一颗泡泡，还是两颗泡泡？”

The aim is one finger touch for one pictured bubble. Do not count the decorative soap foam in the handwashing illustrations, and do not test numeral recognition.
4. Movement: Four Hand Actions
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Move away from the screen before acting:
Wet— hold both hands under imaginary water.Soap— place imaginary soap on the palms.Rinse— turn the palms and backs of the hands under imaginary water.Dry— gently pat both hands dry.
The adult may model all four while Amara copies only the action that interests her. A partial action is enough.
5. Real-Life Observation: Wash with an Adult
At a normal handwashing time, use one or two familiar prompts from the poster:
- “现在打湿小手。”
Let's use soap.- “冲干净。”
Dry your hands.
The poster simplifies the routine. The adult controls the tap, checks water temperature, shows where and how long to rub, helps rinse all the soap away, and adapts the full wash to the actual mess and situation.
Handwashing Safety
An adult stays close at the sink. Check that water is comfortably warm, wipe up splashes that could make the floor slippery, and keep soap away from the mouth and eyes. Never leave a toddler standing at water or climbing to a sink alone.
Bedtime Recall
Keep it conversational rather than testing:
- “今天洗手时用了什么？”
- “最后是冲洗，还是擦干？”

Amara may answer with a point, rubbing motion, sound, or one word.
