Seed to Flower
Today we follow the visible sequence seed → sprout → flower, act out plant → grow → bloom, and count exactly one seed, two sprouts, and three flowers in the bottom row.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 4 months old. Keep each guided activity to 3–8 minutes. A look, point, growing movement, or single word is enough. The poster compresses a long process into three pictures: real plants change gradually over time, not all in one day.

How to use it
Print in colour on portrait A4 paper with “Fit to page” selected, or show it full-screen. Trace the top and middle rows from left to right, then count only the bottom row. No real seed, soil, or flower is required, and Amara does not need to read the labels.

Materials
- Only the A4 teaching picture above, printed or displayed full-screen.
- A clear spot for a small-to-tall movement.
1. Chinese Picture Talk
Time: 5–8 minutes.
Trace the top row:
- “这是一粒种子。”
- “种子慢慢变化，长出了芽。”
- “小芽继续长，后来开出了花。”
Then describe the middle row:
- “把种子种下。”
- “植物慢慢长大。”
- “长到合适的时候，花开放了。”
Emphasise: “这不是一天就完成的，要经过很多次慢慢的变化。” Avoid promising that every seed will sprout or flower on the same schedule.
2. English Time
Time: 3–5 minutes.

Use short chunks:
A seed.A sprout.A flower.Plant. Grow. Bloom.
Do not require repetition. Listening, pointing, or moving is a successful response.
3. Early Math: One, Two, Three
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Count only the bottom quantity row:
- Touch the 1 seed once:
one seed. - Touch the 2 sprouts one at a time:
one, two. - Touch the 3 flowers one at a time:
one, two, three.
Move one finger to one complete object for each number word. Do not count petals, leaves, or soil pieces, and do not require numeral recognition.
4. Movement: Grow Slowly
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Move away from the screen:
- Curl up small like a
seed. - Lift the head and two hands like a
sprout. - Rise slowly for
grow. - Open both hands above or beside the body for
bloom.
Pause between stages so the movement feels gradual rather than instant.
Movement and Nature Safety
Keep feet steady and rise slowly to avoid losing balance. During ordinary outdoor time, look at plants without tasting unknown seeds, leaves, or flowers. Do not pick or touch unfamiliar plants.
5. Everyday Observation and Life Skills
During normal outdoor time or from a window, notice one plant:
- Is it still a small sprout or already a larger plant?
- Can you see a flower?
- Say, “植物慢慢长大。” /
Plants grow over time.
There is no need to find all three stages at once. Look gently and leave the plant where it is.
Bedtime Recall
- “种子以后可能长出什么？”
- “哪一个最小？哪一个开花了？”
Seed, sprout, or flower?- “植物是一天长大的吗？”
Answer together: “不是，它会慢慢变化。”
