Some Things Are for Grown-ups
Today two A4 posters identify medicine, sockets, stoves, and cleaners from pictures only. A toddler stays back, never touches, opens, smells, or tastes, and tells a trusted grown-up.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 7 months old. Keep each activity to 3–8 minutes. Looking, pointing, gesturing, saying one word, staying quiet, pausing, or declining are valid. Hazards appear only in posters; never take her to real locations to identify or practise.

Goals
- Chinese: understand “只看图、保持距离、告诉大人.”

- Communication: one word, pointing, expression, or approaching an adult can request help.
Materials
- Only the two A4 posters above, printed or displayed full-screen.
- The English audio below.
- No medicine bottle, socket, cleaner, kitchen item, or other real object, and no cabinet-opening demonstration.
1. Chinese Picture Talk
Time: 3–8 minutes.
On the main poster, say, “药品在锁好的柜子里，大人处理。”“插座有保护盖。”“炉灶隔在安全门后。”“清洁剂锁起来。” Then point to the pair: “孩子只看图，告诉大人。”
On the extension poster, use four short statements: “只看图。”“不触摸。”“不闻不尝。”“告诉大人。” Amara does not need to memorise the object names.
2. English Time
Time: 3–5 minutes.

English time. Listen, look, or point. Medicine, sockets, stoves, and cleaners are for grown-ups. We look at pictures only. We do not go closer, touch, open, smell, or taste. We stay back and tell a trusted grown-up. One teddy bear. Two books. Three blocks.

Play the audio once at a comfortable level. Repeating hazard names is not required.
3. Early Math: 1, 2, 3
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Count only the safe familiar items in the main poster's bottom strip: 1 teddy bear, 2 closed books, and 3 toy blocks. Do not count locks, cabinet doors, cooker knobs, or people above.
4. Help Gesture: Point and Tell
Time: 3–5 minutes.
The adult can point to the small poster on the extension picture, then point to themselves and say, “看到就告诉我。” Amara may point, look at the adult, use one word, or do nothing. Never ask her to search for a matching place at home.
5. Home-Safety Boundary
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Picture recognition is not real-world risk judgement. Adults store medicine, cleaners, and chemicals according to packaging, locked and out of a toddler's sight and reach. Adults continue to manage sockets, stoves, and other equipment.
Do Not Approach, Touch, Smell, or Taste
Never ask Amara to approach, pick up, open, plug, unplug, smell, or taste medicine, sockets, stoves, cleaners, or unknown containers. If a real item is exposed, move the child away and have an adult secure it immediately. For suspected contact or ingestion, use local emergency or poison-specialist services.
