Mine, Yours, and Shared
Mine, Yours, and Shared
Today ownership words support a larger message: sharing requires agreement, and personal and body boundaries deserve respect.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 7 months old. Keep each part to 3–8 minutes and use only the poster and audio. Looking, pointing, saying one word, staying quiet, pausing, or declining all count. The adult does not demand sharing or hugs and does not praise compliance as “good.”

Goals
- Chinese: meet “我的、你的、一起用的、同意、停止.”
- English: hear
mine, yours, shared,no, andstop. - Social-emotional learning: know that sharing needs agreement and refusal is accepted.
- Early math: count only the bottom 1/2/3 strip.
Materials
- The A4 poster and today's English audio.
- Do not take Amara's comfort item, food, or private belongings for a demonstration.
1. Chinese Picture Talk
Time: 5–8 minutes.
Say, “这个背包是孩子的。这个水杯是大人的。图画书可以在大家都愿意时一起看。” Point to the boundary band and add, “我的身体属于我。你可以说不要、停一下。” Do not ask who “should” share.
2. English Time
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Transcript:
English time. Listen, look, or point. Mine. Yours. Shared. Some things belong to one person. Some things may be shared when everyone agrees. Your body is yours. You may say no or stop.
Listening is enough; Amara is not asked to repeat no or perform refusal.
3. Math 1 / 2 / 3
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Count only the bottom strip: 1 backpack, 2 cups, and 3 books. Counting never changes ownership, and having more or less is not linked to being a “good child.”
4. Life & Body Boundaries
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Point to the shared card and say, “We share only when everyone is willing.” Bodies, private areas, comfort items, and personal comfort are never things a child must share. Adults ask before touching. Looking away, saying no or stop, and leaving are all accepted.
No Forced Sharing
Sharing is an invitation, not a command. Respect refusal of sharing, hugging, kissing, lap sitting, or continuing the activity immediately. Do not remove an item to obtain compliance, offer a reward for surrendering it, or shame refusal.
Bedtime
Time: 3 minutes. Say quietly, “Your body is yours. You may say no, and you may stop.” No response is required.
