Warm, Cool, and Too Hot
Today the poster introduces warm, cool, and too hot while establishing a firm boundary: a toddler never touches to test temperature, and only a grown-up handles hot items or steam.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 7 months old. Keep each activity to 3–8 minutes. Looking, pointing, gesturing, saying one word, staying quiet, pausing, or declining are valid. Use the poster only; never invite her to reach out and test temperature or practise tolerating heat or cold.

Goals

- No cup, hot water, ice, heat pack, fan, or other object, and no temperature experiment.
1. Chinese Picture Talk
Time: 3–8 minutes.
For the first two pictures, say, “穿毛衣看起来很温暖。”“树荫里看起来比较凉爽。” Then say, “锅和蒸汽可能太烫，孩子留在安全门外，大人来处理。”
Do not ask whether Amara dares to touch. She may point to the sun, tree, pot, safety gate, or grown-up, or look away.
2. English Time
Time: 3–5 minutes.

English time. Listen, look, or point. Warm, cool, and too hot. We never touch something to test its temperature. A grown-up handles hot things and steam. The child stays back. One scarf. Two fans. Three sun hats. You may look, point, stay quiet, or stop.

Temperature words are not required, and too hot is not used as a frightening command.
3. Early Math: 1, 2, 3
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Count only the independent bottom strip: 1 scarf, 2 fans, and 3 sun hats. Do not count the sun, people, steam lines, or gate bars above.
4. Safety Gesture: Look and Stay Back
Time: 3–5 minutes.
The adult can point to their eyes for “look,” then move their own open hand backwards for “stay back.” Amara does not need to rehearse stepping back. She may watch, point to the adult, or stop.
5. Science and Care Boundary
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Warm and cool vary with setting, clothing, and personal experience. Too hot requires adult assessment and action. This poster is not advice for fever, burns, or any other medical concern.
Never Ask a Toddler to Test Temperature
Do not ask Amara to touch a cup, pot, steam, cooker, heater, hot water, food, or bathwater to judge temperature, and never move closer to steam to look. A grown-up checks and handles every real hot item, liquid, and appliance.
