Because and So
Because and So
Today we meet simple causal language while keeping the scientifically important word “may.”
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 6 months old. Keep each part to 3–8 minutes and use only the poster and audio. Looking, pointing, one word, moving, pausing, or declining all count. Describe examples in the picture without treating them as universal rules.
A4 Teaching Picture

Goals
- Chinese: meet “因为、所以、可能.”
- English: meet
because,so,may, rain, anddry. - Early math: touch 1 cloud, 2 boots, and 3 raindrops.
- Thinking: notice a possible link without assuming a fixed result.
Materials
- Only the A4 poster and English audio.
- No water, wet cloth, pegs, or weather experiment is needed.
1. Chinese Picture Talk
Time: 5–8 minutes.
Say, “因为下雨,所以地上可能有水坑。” Then, “因为有温暖阳光,湿布可能慢慢变干。” Add that wind, temperature, surface, and time can change what happens. Do not ask Amara to explain why.
2. English Time
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Transcript:
English time. Listen, look, or point. Because rain falls, a puddle may appear. Because warm sunlight shines, a wet cloth may dry. It may happen. It is not always the same.
Give may a gentle emphasis. Repetition is optional and never requested.
3. Math 1 / 2 / 3
Time: 3–5 minutes. Count only 1 cloud, 2 boots, and 3 large drops in the bottom row. Do not count rain marks or pegs above.
4. Movement & Life
Time: 3–5 minutes. Point left for because, then move slowly right for so. Amara may watch or point. In daily life model uncertainty: “The sky is grey. It may rain. We can look.”
Safety & Scientific Accuracy
Do not approach puddles, window drying racks, or heat sources. These are possible causal examples: rain does not always make a puddle, and wet cloths do not all dry in the same way.
Bedtime
Say, “Because we are tired, we may want to rest.” If Amara is not tired, the conditions are simply different.
