October Picture Book Celebration
October Picture Book Celebration
Today two A4 posters celebrate October discovery through looking, pointing, one word, quiet company, or stopping.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 6 months old. Keep each activity to 3–8 minutes. Choosing, not choosing, looking, pointing, making a gesture, saying one word, pausing, or declining are equally valid. There is no performance, reward, or ranking.
A4 Teaching Pictures

How to use them
Print each on portrait A4 paper. Let Amara choose one poster. Follow her attention without retelling the whole month. Use only the posters and audio.
Goals
- Chinese: receive “我发现、我喜欢、我可以停” as language for expression.
- English: meet
choose, look, tell or point, andI can stop. - Language: experience sharing as gaze, pointing, gesture, one word, or quiet.
- Early math: count one picture, two books, and three frames.
- Emotional development: celebrate relationship and exploration, not measured achievement.
Materials
- The two posters and audio only.
- No prize, sticker, certificate, food, gift, screen reward, or other object.
1. Chinese Picture Talk
Say: “这是十月的图画庆典。你可以选一幅看,也可以不选。你可以指、说一个词、安静看,或告诉我停。”
Describe only what Amara notices: “你在看兔子。” Do not announce a favourite for her.

3. Early Math: Celebration 1, 2, 3
- On poster one, 1 has one complete picture.
- On poster one, 2 has two complete books.
- On poster one, 3 has three complete frames.
Count only the bottom strip, not leaves, pumpkins, people, or poster two.
4. A Fully Optional Celebration Gesture
Amara may smile quietly, wave, rest her hands, or do nothing. A high-five, cuddle, or any touch happens only if she freely initiates or accepts it. Do not invite again after refusal.
5. Developmental and Relationship Boundary
At this age, shared attention, being understood, and free exploration matter more than displaying outcomes. Celebrate the shared experience, not proof of ability.
No Reward or Ranking
Do not exchange food, gifts, screens, stickers, certificates, or applause for performance. Do not compete, score, require a full sentence, repeat on demand, pose for a photo, cuddle, or high-five.
Bedtime Recall
- “你想看哪一幅,还是现在结束?”
Choose a picture, or stop.
