Today two posters introduce “may change” and show that conditions and time matter.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 6 months old. Keep each activity to 3–8 minutes. Looking, pointing, saying one word, making an empty-hand gesture, pausing, or declining all count. This is not an experiment or prediction test.
A4 Teaching Pictures
How to use them
Print each on portrait A4 paper. First view ice may melt, a puddle may shrink, and fruit may ripen. Then use poster two to add that conditions and time affect change. Use only the posters and audio.
Goals
- Chinese: meet “变化、融化、变小、成熟、条件、时间.”
- English: meet
may change,ice may melt,a puddle may shrink, andfruit may ripen. - Science: understand these as possible changes, not inevitable rules without conditions.
- Early math: count one ice cube, two water drops, and three fruits.
- Safety: use pictures only; do not touch ice or water or put food in the mouth.
Materials
- The two posters and audio only.
- No ice, water, fruit, fan, timer, or other object.
1. Chinese Picture Talk
Say: “在合适条件下，冰可能融化。水洼可能随时间变小。果实可能逐渐成熟。”
Add with poster two: “条件不同，变化也可能不同；有时快，有时慢，有时暂时看不出来。”

English time. Listen, look, or point. Things may change. Ice may melt. A puddle may shrink. Fruit may ripen. Conditions and time can make a difference. These are pictures, not an experiment. One ice cube. Two drops. Three fruits. You may listen, point, or stop.

3. Early Math: 1, 2, 3
- Under 1, touch the one complete ice cube.
- Under 2, touch the two complete drops.
- Under 3, touch the three complete fruits.
Count only poster one's bottom strip, not stems, leaves, small puddle marks, or poster two.
4. Small Change Gesture
Move two empty hands once from “a little larger” to “a little smaller,” then rest. Amara may watch, copy once, or stop.
5. Science and Safety Boundary
Melting depends on temperature, size, and surroundings. A puddle may change with temperature, airflow, humidity, and the surface. Fruit ripening also depends on species, plant health, and environment.
Pictures, Not Experiments
Do not give Amara ice to touch or mouth, play with water, or taste pictured fruit. The posters do not determine whether real food is edible or ripe.
