One Thing Can Have Many True Descriptions
Today the same ball has descriptions of colour, visible shape, and movement. Descriptions come from the current picture and viewpoint. Several can be true together, while some may change with time or context.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 8 months old. Keep each activity to 3–8 minutes. Looking, pointing, saying one word, staying quiet, pausing, or declining all count. Use only the poster and audio; do not ask for repetition, performance, eye contact, or touch.

Goals

Materials
- Only the A4 teaching picture above, printed or displayed full-screen.
- The English audio below.
- No ball, colour card, shape block, brush, or other object is needed.
1. Chinese Picture Talk
Time: 5–8 minutes.
Keep attention on the same pictured ball and say, “它是红色的。”“它看起来圆圆的。”“它正在滚动。” Then add, “三句话关注的地方不同，在这幅画里都可以是真的。”
Amara may look at the ball, movement line, or any words; point; say “红” or “球”; stay quiet; pause; or decline. Do not ask which answer is correct, because today's point is that descriptions can coexist.
2. English Time
Time: 3–5 minutes.

Transcript: English time. Listen, look, or point. The ball is red. The ball is round. The ball is rolling. One thing can have more than one true description. One hat. Two brushes. Three strawberries. All done.
Play it once. The adult may keep one fingertip on the same ball so Amara hears “one thing, different descriptions.” Repeating is not required.

3. Early Maths: 1, 2, 3
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Count only the separate bottom strip: one hat, two brushes, and three strawberries. Point to each complete object once; ignore the brim, bristles, and strawberry seeds.
4. Descriptions, Change, and Boundaries
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Say, “Red describes colour, round describes the shape we see, and rolling describes movement at this moment.” Noticing only one description is enough. If Amara points elsewhere, describe what she is attending to instead of pulling her back to the target.
Science and Language Note
The flat image of the ball looks circular; a real ball is usually a three-dimensional sphere. “Rolling” describes only the moment shown and will no longer be true after the ball stops. Descriptions should fit visible evidence, time, and context.
