Language and Book-Concept Review
Language and Book-Concept Review
Today gently connects ideas from the previous nine days: person, action, and place in a short sentence; cover, title, and page in a book; and pictures carrying a tiny process story.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 8 months old. Keep each activity to 3–8 minutes. Looking, pointing, saying one word, staying quiet, pausing, or declining all count. Use only the two posters and audio; do not ask for repetition, performance, eye contact, or touch.

Goals
- Chinese: hear a person, action, and place again in a complete short sentence.
- English: understand
Mia reads beside the sofa.and hearcover, title, andpageagain. - Early maths: count one lantern, two turtles, and three carrots only in the main poster's bottom strip.
- Emergent literacy: know that pictures on pages can carry a process story.
Materials
- Only the two A4 teaching pictures above, printed or displayed full-screen.
- The English audio below.
- No physical book, sofa, animal model, lantern, or other object is needed.
1. Poster One: Short Sentence and Book Words
Time: 5–8 minutes.
Say, “米娅在沙发旁看书。米娅告诉我们是谁,看书是动作,沙发旁是地点。” Then follow the pictured book and add, “这张图片还标出了封面、标题和页面。”
Amara may notice only the person, sofa, book, or any label; point; use one word; stay quiet; pause; or decline. Review is not a memory check. Do not ask, “Do you remember?” or “Which one is the title?”
2. English Time
Time: 3–5 minutes.

Transcript: English time. Listen, look, or point. Mia reads beside the sofa. Mia tells us who. Reads tells us what happens. Beside the sofa tells us where. Cover. Title. Page. Pictures on pages can carry a story. One lantern. Two turtles. Three carrots. We can listen, look, point, say one word, stay quiet, or stop. All done.
Play it once. The adult can point to whatever Amara is already watching rather than strictly following the audio order. Do not pause for answers.
| English | Chinese | Possible response |
|---|---|---|
Mia reads beside the sofa. | 米娅在沙发旁看书。 | Notice the person, action, or place |
Cover. Title. Page. | 封面。标题。页面。 | Notice any book label or stay quiet |
Pictures on pages can carry a story. | 页面上的图画可以承载故事。 | Look at the story poster, pause, or decline |
3. Poster Two: A Process Story in Pictures
Time: 5–8 minutes.
Move from top to bottom and say, “还没:小鸟还没到。正在:小鸟在飞,也在看。做完:小鸟到家了。” Then add, “三幅页面图画把变化连成了一个小故事。”
Amara may look at only one preferred panel. Do not ask for ordering, prediction, or retelling, and do not ask her to imitate flying.
4. Early Maths: 1, 2, 3
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Count only the separate bottom strip of main poster 1: one lantern, two turtles, and three carrots. Point once to each complete object; ignore lantern patterns, shell patterns, and carrot leaves. Poster 2 has no counting task.
Review Principle
Review provides another understandable language experience; it does not prove how much a child remembers. One word, one look, a few seconds of quiet listening, or a clear stop fits this age better than forced completion.
Bedtime Recall
- “Mia reads beside the sofa; the sentence carries who, action, and place.”
- “Cover, title, and page are book words; pictures on pages can carry a story.”
- Say
We can listen, look, point, say one word, stay quiet, or stop.once, then finish.
