My Body Boundaries and Consent
My Body Boundaries and Consent
Today two A4 posters offer a relationship experience: optional hugs, tickles, and touch require willingness, and refusal is heard. Immediate safety and essential care remain the adult's responsibility and are handled gently.
Today's Approach
Amara is about 2 years and 8 months old. Keep each activity to 3–8 minutes. Looking, pointing, one word, quiet, pausing, or declining are valid. Do not quiz, correct, score, rank, reward, force repetition or performance, or require eye contact, a hug, or touch.

Goals
- Chinese: meet “我的身体、不、停、空间、大人会听.”
- English: meet
my body,no,stop, space, andgrown-ups listen. - Relationship: understand that optional touch respects consent and a hug is not a politeness task.
- Safety: abuse prevention, supervision, immediate protection, and essential care belong to adults. A child is never blamed for not saying no.
Materials
- Only the two A4 posters above, printed or displayed full-screen.
- The English audio below.
- No doll, body sticker, or role-play. Do not make Amara rehearse being touched, escaping, shouting, identifying someone, or hugging.
1. Chinese Picture Talk
Time: 3–8 minutes.
Point to the main poster and say, “不想抱,可以说不,也可以转身、退开或安静。”“大人会注意身体信号,非必要触碰会停。” At the extension poster, say, “大人负责保护,不是孩子负责防止坏事。”
Amara does not need to demonstrate refusal. Not looking, not speaking, or leaving the poster is itself a boundary to respect.
2. English Time
Time: 3–5 minutes.

Transcript:
English time. Listen, look, or point. Your body belongs to you. You may say no or stop to an optional hug, tickle, or touch. Turning away, moving back, becoming still, quiet, or using one word can all communicate. Grown-ups notice and listen. A child is never to blame for unsafe touch. A grown-up still acts gently and firmly when immediate safety or essential care requires it, and explains what is happening. One stop hand. Two space circles. Three speech bubbles.
| English | 中文 | Possible response |
|---|---|---|
my body | 我的身体 | Watch the person or stay quiet |
no | 不 | Shake the head, turn, leave, or not respond |
stop | 停 | Raise a hand, become still, cry, or use one word |
space | 空间 | Move back, approach a trusted adult, or stop |
grown-ups listen | 大人会听 | The adult pauses and responds |
If Amara becomes still, avoids, or seems uncomfortable with the audio or poster, stop immediately and do not require an explanation.
3. Early Math: 1, 2, 3
Time: 3–5 minutes.
Count only the main poster's separate bottom strip: 1 stop hand, 2 space circles, and 3 empty speech bubbles. Do not count people, gestures, or cards above.
4. Consent and Essential Care Are Different
Time: 3–5 minutes.
State directly: “拥抱、亲吻、挠痒和游戏触碰可以不要。”“过马路时拦住身体、必要的卫生或医疗照护,有时不能等孩子同意;大人会解释、尽量给选择、只做必要部分,并保持温和和尊重。”
Safety intervention is not punishment, and “for your own good” never extends permission into unnecessary touch.
5. Abuse Prevention and Developmental Boundary
Time: 3–5 minutes.
A two-year-old may say no or may freeze, become quiet, comply, cry, or be unable to tell. None of these responses creates responsibility. Adults screen caregivers, supervise continuously, create visible environments, believe concerning signals, and seek qualified help promptly.
Responsibility Always Belongs to Adults
A child does not have to identify a “good” or “bad” person, escape successfully, shout in time, or explain immediately. If unsafe touch is suspected or has occurred, first secure safety, respond calmly and believe the child without interrogation or blame, then contact qualified local child-protection, medical, or law-enforcement professionals.
Bedtime Recall
- “你想看‘停’,还是‘空间’?”
- Say
You may say no to an optional hug.once without asking for a hug.
